Mary Carroll

Mary Carroll began her affiliation with Sean P. Dunn & Associates in June 2011. With more than three decades of experience with Ohio state government, Mary has been recognized on both a national and regional level as an innovator and leader in her field. Combined with her strong background in technology, procurement and policy, Mary is an integral asset to the firm.

Previously, Mary was the State Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Director of the Ohio Office of Information Technology. In this capacity, she was responsible for procurement, technology policy and architecture, and the statewide data center and network. She was also the principle sponsor of the state’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) project and served as a member of the Governor’s cabinet.

During Mary's leadership as the State of Ohio's CIO, the Center for Digital Government ranked Ohio the third most digitally advanced state government in the nation in 2006. Additionally, she was named as one of the "Top 25 Doers, Dreamers and Drivers" in Digital Government in 2006 by Government Technology Magazine.

Mary began her career with the State of Ohio while attending The Ohio State University. After graduating from Ohio State with a Bachelor of Science degree she continued to work with the state and held various positions first in policy development and then in technology.

Notably she was with the Department of Administrative Services as the Deputy State CIO for five years where she was responsible for the technology state term schedule and all state competitive procurement. During this time, Mary established and chaired the Ohio Multi-Agency CIO Council, established in 2004, comprised of Ohio Agency CIOs.

During Mary's tenure as CIO for the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services, she was awarded the 1997 National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA) Merrill Baumgardner Award for demonstrated excellence in the field of automation in a state workforce agency. She was also Interim Executive Director for the New Directions Career Center, where she has continued her association as a volunteer.

Mary lives in German Village and consults on government and non-profit organization issues.
